The diploma ski instructor training (state ski instructor training) is regulated by law. The legal basis for the training is anchored in the ordinance of the Federal Minister of Education on the aptitude tests, final examinations and qualifying examinations at federal sports academies, StF: BGBl. II No. 351/2011.

The implementation of the training courses for the diploma ski instructor examination is assigned to the state ski instructors associations. Therefore, registration is primarily done through the National Ski Instructors Associations or the Austrian Ski School Association. The national ski instructor associations and the state governments have agreed with the federal government that the state ski instructor training will be conducted at the federal sports academies. The Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Research has delegated the implementation of the training to become a state-certified ski instructor to the Federal Sports Academy Innsbruck.
